Axel's take: 8.6/10

A dependable, clean base that makes arriving by train wonderfully easy. a no-frills 3-star opposite Berlin’s main train station, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 3-star opposite Berlin Hauptbahnhof is a strong pick for travelers who value convenience over character. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, helpful staff and a varied breakfast, while Booking.com’s strongest rating is for location. We’d choose it for a short city break or an early train: the station and public transport are practically on the doorstep.

The compromises are typical ibis ones: compact standard rooms, no fridge and tea-making facilities reserved for Premium rooms. Soundproofing is less consistent than the hotel’s description suggests; recent Accor guests mention corridor and neighboring-room noise, although many others report quiet stays. Breakfast and parking cost extra, and Charlie’s Corner Express is a self-service snack lounge rather than a full restaurant. Skip it if spacious rooms or guaranteed quiet matter more than transport access.

• Best for: travelers arriving by train; short sightseeing breaks; practical business stays

• Watch out for: compact standard rooms; variable sound insulation; limited in-room extras

• Location: Opposite Hauptbahnhof, with excellent rail, tram and underground connections.

• Rooms: Standard rooms start at 13 square meters; Premium rooms add a kettle and sofa bed.

• Cleanliness: Consistently praised across recent Expedia, Tripadvisor and Accor reviews.

• Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff are a recurring strength.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, buffet breakfast and a 24-hour self-service snack lounge.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast, parking and pets carry extra charges; standard rooms lack fridges and kettles.
