#3 of 9 hotels in Schöneberg by Axel's take. Schöneberg is #9 of 12 places to stay in Berlin. The best hotels in Schöneberg, ranked · Where to stay in Berlin

Axel's take: 8.6/10

A dependable Berlin base with roomy accommodation and a breakfast worth planning around. a modern 4-star high-rise in Berlin’s western city center, scored for what it is.

Riu Plaza Berlin is a modern 4-star high-rise in Schöneberg, and it’s a strong pick for comfortable, practical city stays. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, spacious rooms, helpful staff and a generous breakfast buffet. Booking.com’s strong overall ratings reinforce that picture. Wittenbergplatz U-Bahn is a short walk away, with KaDeWe and western Berlin’s shopping streets nearby; expect transit trips for many of the historic sights.

The trade-offs are more practical than serious: this is a large chain hotel rather than an intimate boutique, windows don’t open, and some recent guests report uneven room temperatures. Exterior scaffolding appears in May and August 2026 reviews; ask whether it still affects your room’s outlook. Breakfast isn’t included in every booking, and parking terms differ between listings. We’d skip it if opening windows or doorstep access to Mitte’s sights matters most.

Best for: couples on city breaks; western Berlin shopping trips; business travelers
Watch out for: sealed windows and occasional temperature complaints; recent exterior scaffolding; confirm current status; check breakfast and parking inclusions
Location: Near Wittenbergplatz U-Bahn and KaDeWe; convenient for western Berlin, with transit needed for many sights.
Rooms: Generally spacious and comfortable, with kettles and fridges; windows cannot be opened.
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest reviews and major-site category ratings.
Service: Helpful, friendly staff receive repeated praise, despite occasional less positive reception experiences.
Amenities: Buffet breakfast, restaurant, bar, gym and free Wi-Fi; practical city-hotel facilities.
Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; parking inclusions conflict across sites, and recent guests mention exterior scaffolding.
