#3 of 9 hotels in Charlottenburg & Kurfürstendamm by Axel's take. Charlottenburg & Kurfürstendamm is #6 of 12 places to stay in Berlin. The best hotels in Charlottenburg & Kurfürstendamm, ranked · Where to stay in Berlin

Axel's take: 8.7/10

Excellent service and comfort in City West, with renovation timing worth checking. a traditional five-star business hotel in Berlin’s City West, scored for what it is.

Hotel Palace Berlin is a traditional five-star business hotel opposite the zoo, and a strong pick for comfortable rooms rather than showpiece luxury. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and an unusually good breakfast; Booking.com also scores cleanliness highly. Add the indoor pool and easy access to Ku’damm shopping and Zoo station, and it makes a convincing base for business trips or a comfortable city break.

The main caution is refurbishment: the hotel lists phased bathroom renovations across floors three to nine in 2026, while Hyatt announces further modernization ahead of an expected early-2027 rebrand. Ask which work overlaps your dates and request a refurbished room. Sauna access normally costs extra, and breakfast and parking can add to the bill. We’d skip it if you want boutique character or certainty of a construction-free stay.

  • Best for: business travelers who value attentive service; Ku’damm shopping and City West breaks; travelers wanting an indoor pool

  • Watch out for: phased renovations; confirm work for your dates; sauna access normally costs extra; breakfast and parking may be additional

  • Location: Opposite the zoo, close to Ku’damm shops and Zoo station’s extensive transport connections.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds and generous space earn praise; phased refurbishment means room category matters.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor reviews.

  • Service: Recent guests repeatedly praise warm, helpful staff, particularly at reception and breakfast.

  • Amenities: Indoor pool, whirlpool, gym, sauna area, beef45 restaurant and House of Gin bar.

  • Fees and surprises: Sauna, parking and some breakfast plans cost extra; confirm renovation disruption before booking.
