#5 of 9 hotels in Schöneberg by Axel's take. Schöneberg is #9 of 12 places to stay in Berlin. The best hotels in Schöneberg, ranked · Where to stay in Berlin

Axel's take: 7.8/10

A practical Berlin base with friendly staff, good breakfast and summer heat compromises. a simple 3-star city hotel near Tiergarten, scored for what it is.

Hotel Lützow is a simple 3-star near Tiergarten, and a good-value choice for exploring Berlin rather than spending much time in your room. Recent Expedia and HolidayCheck guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, helpful staff and the breakfast buffet. The hotel says its rooms were recently renovated, which newer reviews broadly support. Nearby buses and walkable access to the zoo and KaDeWe make the location a strong point.

The main compromise is summer comfort: guests across several sites report no air-conditioning and rooms that become uncomfortably hot. Some rooms are compact, and school groups can bring corridor noise despite the quiet street. Kitchenettes are advertised, but equipment appears to vary, so confirm your room’s setup. We'd skip it for a heat-sensitive summer stay; otherwise, it's a sensible, unfussy base.

  • Best for: value-minded city-break travelers; Tiergarten and zoo visitors; travelers happy with simple comforts

  • Watch out for: no air-conditioning in summer; possible school-group noise; confirm kitchenette equipment and parking

  • Location: Quiet City West side street near Tiergarten; buses nearby and Wittenbergplatz roughly eight minutes on foot.

  • Rooms: Recently refreshed rooms, some compact; kitchenette equipment varies and some bathrooms receive dated-condition comments.

  • Cleanliness: Generally a strength, with consistent praise across recent Expedia and HolidayCheck reviews.

  • Service: Recent guests regularly praise helpful staff; reception closes at 10:30 p.m., with coded self-check-in afterward.

  • Amenities: Well-liked breakfast buffet, garden terrace, free Wi-Fi and bicycle rental; kitchenettes advertised.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; nearby parking is paid, so confirm availability and late-arrival instructions before traveling.
