#3 of 9 hotels in Neukölln by Axel's take. Neukölln is #11 of 12 places to stay in Berlin. The best hotels in Neukölln, ranked · Where to stay in Berlin

Axel's take: 8.0/10

Warm service makes this basic Berlin guesthouse worth considering, despite its dated rooms. a small, no-frills, family-run guesthouse near Hermannplatz, scored for what it is.

Hotel am Hermannplatz is a small, no-frills guesthouse on the Kreuzberg–Neukölln border, and we'd pick it for personal service rather than polished interiors. Booking.com, Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the friendly, accommodating staff, while cleanliness is generally well regarded. Nearby cafés, restaurants and two U-Bahn stations make it a practical base for exploring Berlin. Breakfast gets good feedback, too.

The compromise is the accommodation itself: rooms are simply furnished, some are small, and recent guests still describe tired décor and bathrooms. Street and corridor noise can intrude, though other guests report peaceful nights. There is no elevator, and reception has limited hours. It's a good fit for travelers who prioritize welcome and location; we'd skip it for modern comforts, step-free access or dependable quiet.

Best for: budget-conscious solo travelers and couples; exploring Kreuzberg and Neukölln; travelers who value personal service
Watch out for: dated rooms and bathrooms; possible street and corridor noise; no elevator; limited reception hours
Location: Lively neighborhood with plentiful food options and short walks to Schönleinstraße and Hermannplatz U-Bahn stations.
Rooms: Simple, individually furnished rooms with private shower rooms; some guests find them small and dated.
Cleanliness: Generally praised across booking sites, despite recurring comments about worn interiors.
Service: The clearest strength: guests consistently describe staff as welcoming, helpful and flexible.
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, luggage storage and optional breakfast, including room delivery; no elevator.
Fees and surprises: Breakfast costs extra; free courtyard parking is limited with a narrow entrance, so confirm availability and arrange late arrivals.
