Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong mid-range base with standout breakfast and friendly service. a modern, fairy-tale-themed 3-star superior beside Gleisdreieck Park, scored for what it is.

Grimms Potsdamer Platz is a modern 3-star superior with fairy-tale touches rather than luxury ambitions, and it's a strong pick for a Berlin city break. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests keep praising the comfortable rooms, helpful staff and generous breakfast; Booking.com's broader ratings reinforce the strong cleanliness record. Beside Gleisdreieck Park, with U-Bahn stations nearby and Potsdamer Platz roughly ten minutes away on foot, it balances sightseeing access with a calmer setting.

The compromises are mostly practical: guests repeatedly miss in-room kettles and fridges, the gym is small, and parking means a separate public garage. The hotel says its sauna closes for summer and reopens October 1. We'd choose it for comfortable, good-value exploring, but skip it if extensive wellness facilities or a livelier doorstep matter most.

  • Best for: couples on sightseeing breaks; business travelers; travelers who prefer a quieter base

  • Watch out for: Guests report no in-room kettle or fridge; Small gym and seasonal sauna; Paid public parking, not hotel parking

  • Location: Beside Gleisdreieck Park, close to U-Bahn stations and roughly ten minutes' walk from Potsdamer Platz.

  • Rooms: Modern, themed rooms earn strong comfort feedback; some have balconies, but guests miss kettles and fridges.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall across sites, with occasional reports of dust or missed corners rather than a widespread problem.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength, despite occasional reception complaints.

  • Amenities: Restaurant, bar, breakfast buffet, small gym and panoramic sauna; the sauna closes during summer.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast may be extra depending on your booking; the sauna carries a surcharge and nearby public parking is paid.
