#6 of 9 hotels in Potsdamer Platz & Tiergarten by Axel's take. Potsdamer Platz & Tiergarten is #5 of 12 places to stay in Berlin. The best hotels in Potsdamer Platz & Tiergarten, ranked · Where to stay in Berlin

Axel's take: 8.6/10

A friendly, quietly located Berlin base, provided you can live without air-conditioning. a small, Scandinavian-style mid-range hotel near Potsdamer Platz, scored for what it is.

Fjord is a small, Scandinavian-style mid-range hotel that gets the important things right: cleanliness, comfortable beds and genuinely helpful staff. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming team and quiet setting, while Booking.com’s ratings reinforce those strengths. We'd pick it for sightseeing and Kulturforum visits without sleeping on a busy main road. Family rooms and selected rooms with private roof terraces broaden its appeal.

The biggest compromise is no air-conditioning: the hotel supplies fans, but we'd skip it during hot weather if cool nights are essential. Breakfast earns plenty of praise, although some guests find it expensive, particularly for families. The immediate neighborhood is subdued rather than lively, and reception is not staffed overnight. It's a strong choice for travelers prioritizing a restful base over full-service facilities.

  • Best for: couples seeking a quiet sightseeing base; families wanting a room for four; Kulturforum and Philharmonie visitors

  • Watch out for: no air-conditioning; breakfast can feel expensive; reception closes overnight

  • Location: Quiet side street within walking distance of Potsdamer Platz, the Kulturforum and several U-Bahn stops.

  • Rooms: Simple Nordic styling; entry rooms are compact, with larger family rooms and private-terrace categories available.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across guest-review sites, with particularly strong cleanliness ratings.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are repeatedly praised; reception operates from 07:00 to 22:00 with telephone support afterward.

  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, afternoon-to-evening lobby coffee and tea, bicycle rental and limited parking with charging on request.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast and parking cost extra unless included; reserve parking ahead and arrange late arrival.
