#2 of 9 hotels in Potsdamer Platz & Tiergarten by Axel's take. Potsdamer Platz & Tiergarten is #5 of 12 places to stay in Berlin. The best hotels in Potsdamer Platz & Tiergarten, ranked · Where to stay in Berlin

Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong-value Berlin base, provided you can live with compact rooms. a modern budget hotel beside Gleisdreieck U-Bahn, scored for what it is.

aletto is a modern budget hotel beside Gleisdreieck U-Bahn, roughly a 15-minute walk from Potsdamer Platz rather than on the square itself. It’s a strong pick for sightseeing without paying for unnecessary extras. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise cleanliness and helpful staff, while recent Tripadvisor reviews reinforce the appeal of comfortable beds and easy transport. Air-conditioned rooms, a rooftop terrace, garden and lively bar give it more character than a basic overnight stop.

The main compromise is space: Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly describe compact rooms, particularly when sharing with three or four people. School groups can make communal areas busy, and some guests report crowded breakfasts. Breakfast costs extra unless included in your booking, and parking is in nearby paid garages, not the hotel’s own lot. We’d skip it for a room-focused retreat; for days spent exploring Berlin, it makes good sense.

Best for: value-conscious city breakers; families comfortable sharing compact rooms; travelers exploring by U-Bahn
Watch out for: tight rooms for three or four; busy communal areas during group stays; no hotel-owned parking
Location: Beside Gleisdreieck U-Bahn; Potsdamer Platz is about 15 minutes away on foot.
Rooms: Modern, air-conditioned and generally comfortable, but space and clothes storage can be tight.
Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across Booking.com and Expedia; isolated lapses do not dominate.
Service: Helpful, friendly staff are a recurring strength; reception is staffed around the clock.
Amenities: Rooftop terrace, garden playground, Italian restaurant, bar and free Wi-Fi.
Fees and surprises: Breakfast may be extra; nearby garages charge for parking, and pets incur a fee.
