Axel's take: 8.4/10

A strong central base, with helpful staff and some room wear. a five-star business hotel near MG Road, scored for what it is.

Welcomhotel is a five-star business hotel near MG Road, and we'd choose it for central convenience and comfortable, practical accommodation rather than lavish luxury. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise housekeeping and helpful staff, while Booking.com scores support the positive picture on comfort and cleanliness. Standard rooms measure 31 square metres, and the pool, spa and round-the-clock gym make this a well-equipped base for work or sightseeing.

The trade-off is polish: several guests describe aging furnishings or bathrooms, and front-desk efficiency attracts recurring criticism alongside plentiful service praise. Breakfast generally goes down well, though opinions on variety and food quality differ. Check whether breakfast is included; airport transfers cost extra. We'd skip it if freshly updated interiors and consistently seamless five-star service are priorities.

• Best for: business travelers with central-city meetings; sightseers prioritizing location; travelers wanting full-service comfort

• Watch out for: some aging rooms and bathroom fittings; occasionally uneven front-desk service; breakfast inclusion varies by booking

• Location: Convenient for MG Road and Garuda Mall, with Trinity metro roughly a ten-minute walk away.

• Rooms: Standard rooms are 31 square metres; comfort earns praise, but some guests report dated fittings.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across sites, with frequent praise for housekeeping.

• Service: Staff are widely praised; check-in efficiency and problem handling are less consistent.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, spa, 24-hour gym, two restaurants and a bar; free parking is listed.

• Fees and surprises: Airport transfers and extra beds carry charges; confirm breakfast inclusions before booking.
