Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong central luxury pick, with generous rooms and occasionally uneven restaurant service. a five-star city hotel with garden-inspired spaces in central Bengaluru, scored for what it is.

ITC Gardenia is a five-star city hotel that earns its place on a central Bengaluru shortlist. Its garden-inspired public spaces give it character, while spacious rooms, extensive dining and proximity to UB City make it practical as well as comfortable. Tripadvisor and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise room comfort, cleanliness and helpful staff; Expedia’s strong overall ratings support that picture. We’d choose it for a business trip or a city break with time for the spa and restaurants.

The qualification is consistency rather than missing facilities. Some recent guests find the interiors a little dated, and restaurant service attracts repeated complaints about waits and disorganization, despite plentiful praise for the food. Balcony rooms are a separate category, so book explicitly if that matters. Skip it if cutting-edge interiors and uniformly seamless luxury service are your priorities.

• Best for: central Bengaluru business trips; couples on a city break; travelers who prioritize on-site dining

• Watch out for: occasionally slow restaurant service; some interiors feel dated; not every room has a balcony

• Location: Central Residency Road base near UB City and Cubbon Park; the airport is roughly 39 km away.

• Rooms: Generously sized rooms; balcony categories add outdoor space, though some guests find the decor dated.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, including Expedia’s 9.4 cleanliness rating.

• Service: Helpful staff receive frequent praise; restaurant responsiveness is less consistent.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, Kaya Kalp spa, 24-hour gym and several restaurants cover the luxury basics well.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking and valet are complimentary; airport transfers cost extra, and balcony rooms require the right category.
