Axel's take

a historic 3-star boutique hotel in Mount Vernon, currently listed as closed

6.0/10

Historic charm, but the listed closure makes it a skip for now.

Hotel Brexton is a historic 3-star boutique hotel in Mount Vernon, with an appealing building and a previously solid reputation. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests regularly praise its character, comfortable rooms and helpful staff; nearby restaurants, theaters and light rail make the location useful beyond the waterfront tourist circuit. For travelers who prefer individuality to chain-hotel polish, it had plenty going for it.

Right now, we'd skip it. Expedia and Hotels.com list the property as closed from February 27 through December 31, 2026, subject to change, while recent guests report arriving to locked doors and unanswered calls. Those repeated arrival failures outweigh the older positive ratings. Before the closure, recurring trade-offs included a very basic breakfast, some room-maintenance issues and noise. Consider it only after reopening is directly confirmed—not simply because a booking page accepts reservations.

Best for

  • historic-building enthusiasts after confirmed reopening
  • Mount Vernon arts weekends after confirmed reopening

Watch out for

  • Listed closed through December 31, 2026
  • Recent reports of guests unable to check in
  • Basic breakfast and uneven room upkeep
Location
Mount Vernon setting convenient for theaters, restaurants and light rail, rather than a waterfront base.
Rooms
Characterful and often comfortable, but guests report occasional maintenance problems and sound carrying between rooms.
Cleanliness
Historically strong overall, with some more recent complaints about odors and housekeeping detail.
Service
Older reviews praise welcoming staff; recent locked-door and unanswered-phone reports seriously undermine reliability.
Amenities
Wyndham advertises continental breakfast, a courtyard and limited free parking; availability after reopening needs confirmation.
Fees and surprises
The listed 2026 closure is the main concern; free parking is limited, and early arrival or late departure can incur charges.

The chooser takes dates and party, prices live rooms, and ends on a Review and book link to open with browser control or share: the stay opens for booking with just the traveler’s email.
  • Every link here is complete and ready to open. Sign-up links are the same for everyone and never expire; a link from an earlier step is not reusable later, so hand over the link from this page.
  • If a link can no longer be opened: search for "Axel Hotel Brexton, Trademark Collection by Wyndham rates, Baltimore" and open the result; the Flight search guide is always findable by search, and this page works without an account, API key or connector. Or ask the traveler to open https://helloaxel.com/en/hotels/baltimore/hotel-brexton-trademark-collection-by-wyndham-1404007; an address the traveler opens always works.
  • Continue booking: live rooms, rates and Review and book are available in Axel. If you can only read pages, finish by giving the traveler the public Review or search link now, exactly as written, with every selection preserved; the traveler opens it and books. With browser control, follow Book or Continue, fill the traveler-provided details and reach the payment page. Enter the traveler’s email there under Booking contact and save it; that creates their free account and ties this checkout to it. Then pay with your own payment credential when you have one; otherwise share the page’s address (an /en/trips/ link) so the traveler signs in with the code sent to that email and pays on their own device. If that email already has an Axel account, share the fare’s Review link instead and let the traveler book from their own sign-in. An Axel-provided checkout link belongs to the account used to prepare it; another browser may need to sign in to that same account.
