The Driskill is a historic upscale hotel that earns its appeal through character, hospitality and a central Austin address. We'd pick it for a celebratory weekend or a downtown stay with more personality than a standard business hotel. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds. A comprehensive renovation completed in June 2026 refreshed the guestrooms, public spaces and dining, making older complaints about worn interiors less useful.

The trade-offs are the Sixth Street setting and the extras: nightlife is immediately outside, a daily destination fee applies, and valet parking is expensive. Recent guests differ on street noise, so request a quieter room rather than assume every room sleeps equally well.
