#3 of 7 hotels in Exarchia by Axel's take. Exarchia is #5 of 9 places to stay in Athens. The best hotels in Exarchia, ranked · Where to stay in Athens

Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong budget pick for friendly service, not doorstep sightseeing. a small, design-led budget hotel in Exarchia, scored for what it is.

The Q is a small, design-led budget hotel in Exarchia, and we'd shortlist it for a comfortable stay outside Athens' main tourist circuit. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise cleanliness and unusually helpful staff; modern rooms and playful artwork give it personality without luxury pretensions. It's a strong pick if neighborhood cafés matter more than being beside the Acropolis.

The compromises are space and location. Most doubles measure just 13–16 square meters, and tight bathrooms recur in guest feedback. Expect roughly a 15-minute walk to the metro; Exarchia's graffiti-covered streets divide opinion. We'd skip it if you want generous bathrooms or effortless access to the main sights. Otherwise, the service and well-kept rooms make a convincing case for this simple hotel.

  • Best for: value-minded couples; solo city explorers; travelers who prefer neighborhood cafés

  • Watch out for: compact rooms and tight bathrooms; metro stations around 15 minutes away; graffiti-heavy surroundings won't suit everyone

  • Location: Exarchia offers a neighborhood base rather than doorstep access to the main sights.

  • Rooms: Most doubles are 13–16 square meters; balcony options help, but bathrooms can feel cramped.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength: both Booking.com and Expedia show particularly strong cleanliness ratings.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the clearest recurring highlight across guest-review sites.

  • Amenities: Café, coworking space, Wi-Fi, mini-fridges and Nespresso machines add useful everyday comforts.

  • Fees and surprises: No on-site parking; pet policies conflict—the official site says dog-friendly, while Expedia says no pets. Confirm directly.
