#6 of 9 hotels in Piraeus & Coast by Axel's take. Piraeus & Coast is #8 of 9 places to stay in Athens. The best hotels in Piraeus & Coast, ranked · Where to stay in Athens

Axel's take: 8.4/10

Filon delivers friendly, good-value ferry stopovers, but nighttime noise is a real trade-off. a no-frills 2-star near Piraeus ferry gates E9 and E10, scored for what it is.

Filon is a no-frills 2-star in Piraeus, and a strong pick for an inexpensive night before an island ferry. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful reception team, clean rooms and convenient port location. Recent Expedia reviews also single out effective air conditioning. We'd choose it for practical comfort and good value rather than stylish interiors or extensive facilities.

The main catch is sleep: Booking.com and Trip.com guests report late music from nearby bars, while some Expedia guests mention noisy neighbors. Not everyone is affected, but light sleepers should take that pattern seriously. Rooms vary in size, and breakfast gets mixed reactions. Check your departure gate rather than assuming every ferry or cruise berth is equally close. We'd skip it for a quiet retreat or an Athens sightseeing stay where central location matters most.

  • Best for: island-hoppers catching early ferries; budget-conscious short stays; families needing triple or quadruple rooms

  • Watch out for: late-night bar music and corridor noise; variable room sizes; port proximity depends on your departure gate

  • Location: Handy for gates E9/E10 and nearby restaurants; this is Piraeus, not central Athens or a beachfront hotel.

  • Rooms: Simple, air-conditioned rooms; comfort is generally well reviewed, though some rooms are small.

  • Cleanliness: Consistent praise across Booking.com and recent Expedia reviews.

  • Service: Helpful, welcoming staff are the standout strength; reception operates around the clock.

  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, lifts, family rooms and an optional sixth-floor breakfast area cover the basics.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; Expedia lists a seasonal accommodation tax payable at the property.
