Axel's take: 8.2/10

Choose it for Riviera relaxation and strong facilities, not cutting-edge luxury. a traditional 5-star seaside resort on the Athens Riviera, scored for what it is.

Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso is a traditional 5-star seaside resort in Vouliagmeni, better suited to a coastal break than an Athens sightseeing base. It's a strong pick for its pools, sea views and substantial wellness facilities. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, cleanliness and generous breakfast; recent reviews remain broadly positive despite reservations about value at this level.

The main compromise is the accommodation: Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly describe dated rooms and bathrooms that fall short of modern luxury expectations. The beach is across the road, reached through an underpass, rather than directly outside your room. Budget separately for thalassotherapy access, parking and some beach seating; the hotel distinguishes complimentary Mythos Beach access from its bookable Apollon Beach sunbeds. We'd skip it for contemporary interiors or daily trips into central Athens.

  • Best for: couples prioritizing coastal relaxation; spa and fitness enthusiasts; families wanting resort pools

  • Watch out for: dated rooms and bathrooms; spa, parking and beach-seating extras; commute to central Athens

  • Location: Coastal Vouliagmeni setting; beach access via an underpass, with a commute to central Athens.

  • Rooms: Sea views are a strength, but dated interiors and bathrooms recur in recent feedback.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com and Expedia guest feedback.

  • Service: Helpful, friendly staff earn repeated praise, especially reception and housekeeping.

  • Amenities: Two outdoor pools, an indoor pool, a well-regarded gym and an extensive thalassotherapy spa.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking and thalassotherapy cost extra; confirm beach seating inclusions, as Mythos and Apollon arrangements differ.
