#7 of 7 hotels in Exarchia by Axel's take. Exarchia is #5 of 9 places to stay in Athens. The best hotels in Exarchia, ranked · Where to stay in Athens

Axel's take: 4.9/10

Appealing character, but repeated bedbug reports make this hostel hard to recommend. A small, vintage-style hostel with dorms and private rooms sharing bathrooms, scored for what it is.

Athens Quinta is a small hostel in a neoclassical house in Exarchia, not a conventional three-star hotel. Its vintage furnishings, courtyard, shared kitchen and included breakfast give it more personality than a basic dorm stop. Booking.com and Expedia guests regularly praise the helpful staff and homey atmosphere, and overall ratings remain broadly positive.

But we'd skip it until there is convincing evidence that recurring bedbug problems have been resolved. Several Hostelworld guests reported them in August 2025, and an Expedia guest reported an affected dorm again on October 11, 2026. Other 2026 guests describe clean, pleasant stays, but that does not erase this repeated concern. Shared bathrooms, traveling noise and limited reception hours are ordinary hostel compromises; the pest reports are not. Light sleepers and anyone prioritizing reliable cleanliness should look elsewhere.

  • Best for: Budget travelers interested in Exarchia, conditional on pest concerns being resolved; Travelers who prefer a small, homey hostel

  • Watch out for: Repeated bedbug reports, including October 2026; Shared bathrooms and noise between rooms; Limited reception hours; arrange late arrival

  • Location: Exarchia's cafés and restaurants are a draw; Panepistimio metro is roughly a ten-minute walk away.

  • Rooms: Dorms and private rooms share bathrooms; vintage character comes with creaky floors and weak sound insulation.

  • Cleanliness: Many positive reports, but repeated bedbug complaints across sites remain a serious unresolved concern.

  • Service: Helpfulness earns frequent praise, although some guests reporting pests describe inadequate responses.

  • Amenities: Included self-serve breakfast, shared kitchen, courtyard and free Wi-Fi; no elevator or onsite parking.

  • Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a seasonal accommodation tax collected onsite; contact the hostel ahead of arrival for after-hours access.
