Axel's take: 8.8/10

Attentive service and a calmer beachfront make this a strong luxury pick. a five-star beachfront resort with a casino on quieter Palm Beach, scored for what it is.

The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba is a five-star beach resort that earns its place through warm service, spacious balcony rooms and a quieter position at the northern end of Palm Beach. We'd pick it for a relaxed luxury holiday rather than a scene. Recent Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise attentive staff and meticulous upkeep; two pools, including an adults-only option, plus a spa and casino give it plenty beyond the sand.

The trade-offs are less about comfort than convenience and extras. Restaurant and bar prices draw complaints, Expedia lists a nightly resort fee, and recent Tripadvisor guests describe competition for preferred loungers through the reservation app. Beach shade also gets occasional criticism. It's a strong choice for couples and beach-focused families, but we'd skip it if you want an all-inclusive bill or effortless access to the best poolside seats.

• Best for: couples seeking attentive beachfront luxury; families focused on beach and pool time; travelers who prefer quieter Palm Beach

• Watch out for: nightly resort fee and expensive dining; competition for preferred loungers; limited shade at some beach chairs

• Location: Directly on the quieter northern end of Palm Beach, away from the busiest resort stretch.

• Rooms: Spacious balcony rooms; select the view category carefully, as limited-view rooms also exist.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Expedia and Booking.com feedback.

• Service: Personal attention and friendly beach and pool teams receive repeated praise.

• Amenities: Two outdoor pools, an adults-only pool option, spa, gym, restaurants and casino.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a nightly resort fee; official policies confirm complimentary parking and cash-free outlets.
