Axel's take: 8.9/10
A strong comfort-first base, but confirm the pool and spa situation before booking. An upscale colonial-style hotel with garden courtyards near Antigua’s center, scored for what it is.
Camino Real Antigua is an upscale colonial-style hotel that gets the essentials right: spacious rooms, comfortable beds, well-kept courtyards and an easy walk to Central Park. We'd pick it for a comfortable sightseeing stay rather than an intimate boutique experience. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise cleanliness and helpful staff, while breakfast earns plenty of compliments.
The main caution is the wellness facilities. Guests staying in May and June 2026 reported pool-area renovation closures, and Booking.com feedback also mentions spa renovation; we couldn't confirm that all facilities have reopened. Check directly before booking if these matter. Breakfast isn't necessarily included, and Expedia and Hotels.com list a mandatory resort fee. We'd skip it for a pool-focused stay without written confirmation, but it's a strong choice for exploring Antigua in comfort.
