Axel's take: 6.3/10

A practical budget stop, but room consistency remains the catch. a no-frills budget motel near the freeway, scored for what it is.

Motel 6 Garden Grove is a no-frills budget motel for drivers, not a walk-to-Disneyland base. We'd consider it for a short stay when keeping costs down matters more than polish. Free parking, free Wi-Fi, and in-room microwaves and refrigerators cover useful basics. Recent Trip.com guests praise clean rooms and value, while some 2026 reviewers also welcome the refreshed interiors.

The catch is consistency: Booking.com's overall rating remains middling, and the broader review history includes uneven housekeeping, maintenance and service. More recent praise is encouraging, but it doesn't establish a dependable turnaround. Don't count on a pool: guest reports describe it as removed, and the official site no longer advertises one. Smoking rooms are still sold, and a check-in deposit applies. We'd skip it for a family holiday where reliable comfort and on-site recreation matter.

• Best for: budget travelers with a car; short, practical stays; travelers needing a fridge and microwave

• Watch out for: uneven housekeeping and maintenance; no usable pool reported; smoking rooms and check-in deposit

• Location: Convenient for freeway access and driving to Anaheim attractions, rather than walking to Disneyland.

• Rooms: Some guests praise refreshed, spacious rooms; microwaves and refrigerators are standard.

• Cleanliness: Recent positive reports temper, but do not erase, the mixed housekeeping record.

• Service: Helpful staff earn praise, but service feedback is inconsistent; multi-night housekeeping may be limited.

• Amenities: Free parking and Wi-Fi; guest reports say the former pool is no longer usable.

• Fees and surprises: A check-in deposit is required; select a non-smoking room explicitly.
