Axel's take: 6.7/10

A workable budget stop, but room condition and limited amenities make it a compromise. a basic 2-star roadside motel, now listed as Casa Blanca Hotel - Orange, scored for what it is.

This former Howard Johnson now appears on major booking sites as Casa Blanca Hotel - Orange, a basic 2-star motel. We'd consider it for a short, budget-minded stay with a car, rather than a family vacation built around the hotel. Free parking and freeway access are practical advantages, and recent Expedia guests frequently praise clean rooms and comfortable beds.

Consistency is the catch: other recent guests describe worn furnishings, bathroom maintenance problems and uneven front-desk responses. The pictures may set expectations too high. Guests reported an empty, unavailable pool in January 2026; confirm reopening before counting on it. Disneyland requires a drive, and there's no elevator. We'd skip it if dependable upkeep, polished service or pool time matters more than keeping accommodation costs down.

• Best for: budget travelers with a car; short overnight stops

• Watch out for: uneven room condition and maintenance; pool reopening unverified; no elevator

• Location: Convenient freeway access and nearby food; a driving base rather than a walk-to-Disneyland hotel.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds earn praise, but furnishings and bathroom condition vary between rooms.

• Cleanliness: Many recent guests report clean rooms, alongside complaints about odors and poorly maintained bathrooms.

• Service: Helpful staff receive praise, but complaint handling draws recurring criticism.

• Amenities: Free parking, listed Wi-Fi and guest laundry; January 2026 guests reported the pool unavailable.

• Fees and surprises: A refundable damage deposit is listed; book under the current Casa Blanca name and verify pool availability.
