Axel's take: 8.2/10

Spacious suites and helpful staff make this a strong practical base, despite housekeeping lapses. a practical 3-star extended-stay hotel near Crossgates Mall, scored for what it is.

This 3-star extended-stay hotel is a strong pick for families and longer visits when kitchen space matters more than downtown atmosphere. Marriott describes it as newly renovated, and guests on Booking.com and Expedia repeatedly praise the roomy suites, comfortable beds and helpful staff. Full kitchens, included hot breakfast and free parking make it a useful, good-value base for shopping or university visits.

The main reservation is consistency. Although most recent feedback is positive, several 2026 guests on Tripadvisor and Expedia describe housekeeping oversights, missing supplies or rooms needing attention; two August Tripadvisor stays also involved rooms not being ready properly. Housekeeping is scheduled every other day. We'd choose it for space and convenience, but skip it for a walkable downtown stay or if reliably meticulous room preparation is your priority.

• Best for: families needing extra space; longer stays with self-catering; university visitors with a car

• Watch out for: occasional housekeeping and room-readiness lapses; housekeeping every other day; outside downtown; no airport shuttle

• Location: Convenient for Crossgates Mall and university visits; better suited to drivers than downtown sightseeing.

• Rooms: Spacious studios and suites with full kitchens; renovation is advertised, but condition feedback still varies.

• Cleanliness: Mostly praised, with several recent reports of missed cleaning details and incomplete room preparation.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor.

• Amenities: Included hot breakfast, indoor pool, gym, guest laundry and an outdoor seating area.

• Fees and surprises: On-site parking is free; pets incur a nonrefundable stay fee, and no airport shuttle is provided.
