Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong family base with useful kitchens, friendly staff and shopping next door. a 3-star all-suite hotel beside Crossgates Mall, scored for what it is.

This 3-star all-suite hotel beside Crossgates Mall is a strong pick for families, university visits and longer stays. Spacious suites with kitchens make it more practical than a standard hotel room, while included breakfast and parking help the value. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, helpful staff and breakfast; Booking.com’s overall ratings also support a comfortably above-average stay. The indoor pool and gym round out a useful, straightforward package.

The main caveat is uneven room condition: some Tripadvisor guests report tired upholstery and carpets, despite the largely positive cleanliness feedback elsewhere. Expect comfortable chain-hotel accommodation, not uniformly fresh interiors. The mall-side setting suits shopping and restaurant access better than exploring downtown Albany on foot, and Hilton confirms there is no airport shuttle. We’d choose it for space and convenience rather than atmosphere.

• Best for: families wanting kitchen-equipped suites; University at Albany visitors; longer stays near shopping

• Watch out for: worn furnishings in some suites; no airport shuttle; not a downtown walking base

• Location: Beside Crossgates Mall, with shopping and dining close by; convenient for university visits.

• Rooms: Spacious kitchen-equipped suites; some guests report aging carpets and upholstery.

• Cleanliness: Recent feedback is predominantly positive, with occasional room-condition and housekeeping lapses.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength across recent guest reviews.

• Amenities: Included hot breakfast, indoor pool, fitness center and a Wednesday evening social.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking and Wi-Fi are included; pets incur a nonrefundable fee, and no airport shuttle operates.
