Axel's take: 8.0/10

A strong downtown base, provided you plan for parking and confirm your room. a straightforward 3-star in a historic downtown building, scored for what it is.

This is a straightforward 3-star in a historic downtown building, and we'd shortlist it for an MVP Arena event or a short business trip. You're within walking distance of the arena, Capitol and Albany Capital Center. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds, helpful staff and the included hot breakfast; Tripadvisor also has enthusiastic reports about spacious upgraded rooms. It's a practical pick rather than a hotel to build a vacation around.

The clearest drawback is parking: there is none on-site, so expect street spaces or a nearby paid garage. Room layouts vary, and reports of limited or missing windows make confirming natural light worthwhile. Although staff feedback is mostly positive, Tripadvisor includes repeated reservation-handling complaints, including a June 2026 cancellation at arrival. We'd reconfirm before a busy event weekend and skip it if effortless parking is essential.

• Best for: MVP Arena concertgoers; short downtown business trips; sightseeing on foot

• Watch out for: no on-site parking; confirm windows and room layout; reconfirm event-weekend reservations

• Location: Walkable downtown address near MVP Arena, Albany Capital Center and the Capitol.

• Rooms: Comfort and spaciousness earn praise, but layouts and natural light vary; confirm your specific room.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent Expedia feedback, with a 9.0 cleanliness rating.

• Service: Mostly friendly and helpful, offset by several serious reservation-handling complaints on Tripadvisor.

• Amenities: Included buffet breakfast, fitness center and guest laundry; Marriott lists housekeeping every other day.

• Fees and surprises: Off-site garage parking costs extra; Marriott says street parking is free nights and weekends.
