Axel's take: 7.1/10

A practical casino stay with spacious rooms, but uneven four-star polish. an aging 4-star riverfront casino hotel, scored for what it is.

Bally’s is an aging 4-star casino hotel on Shreveport’s downtown riverfront, best treated as a convenient gambling base rather than a luxury escape. Spacious rooms, free garage parking and easy access to downtown attractions make it a practical pick. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise friendly staff and clean rooms; Tripadvisor feedback also recognizes the generous room sizes and helpful service.

The trade-off is inconsistent upkeep: dated furnishings, occasional maintenance failures and some housekeeping complaints temper the positives. Smoke odors also feature in guest feedback, so smoke-sensitive travelers should be cautious. There’s a nightly resort fee despite complimentary parking, and restaurant and spa schedules need checking, particularly early in the week. We’d consider it for a casino-focused weekend, but skip it for reliably polished four-star comfort.

Best for: casino-focused weekend trips; travelers wanting spacious rooms; drivers exploring downtown
Watch out for: dated rooms and uneven upkeep; smoke odors in guest reports; nightly resort fee
Location: Downtown riverfront setting near the aquarium, Red River District and convention center.
Rooms: Generous space, but dated furnishings and occasional equipment problems.
Cleanliness: Recent Expedia feedback is mostly positive, with some meaningful housekeeping exceptions.
Service: Friendly front-desk staff draw repeated praise; problem resolution is less consistent.
Amenities: Casino, dining, gym and La Spa; the spa closes Mondays and Tuesdays.
Fees and surprises: Free garage self-parking; resort fee and breakage deposit apply, and breakfast costs extra.
