#5 of 9 hotels in Kissimmee Maingate West by Axel's take. Kissimmee Maingate West is #7 of 12 places to stay in Orlando. The best hotels in Kissimmee Maingate West, ranked · Where to stay in Orlando

Axel's take: 8.1/10

A strong family pick for space and pools, with sales pressure and extra charges. a sprawling mid-range timeshare resort with apartment-style villas near Disney, scored for what it is.

Orange Lake is a sprawling mid-range timeshare resort, not a conventional luxury hotel. We'd choose it for a family holiday mixing Disney visits with pool days: spacious villas, kitchens and extensive recreation make longer stays practical. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise cleanliness, room comfort and family facilities, giving the positives more weight than the scattered horror stories.

The trade-offs are scale and extras. Expect to drive or use the internal shuttle, budget for a nightly resort fee and paid activities, and be prepared to decline timeshare pitches. The hotel currently reports daytime construction in the Main Clubhouse and a partial closure of Splash Lagoon's main pool. We'd skip it for a compact, fully serviced stay; it's strongest for families who want apartment space and will actually use the resort.

Best for: families mixing Disney and pool days; longer self-catering stays; multigenerational groups
Watch out for: Main Clubhouse construction and partial Splash Lagoon pool closure; timeshare sales approaches; resort fee and activity extras
Location: Near Disney, but the enormous grounds favor a car or internal shuttle over walking.
Rooms: Spacious apartment-style accommodation; check the specific village and room type rather than assuming identical villas.
Cleanliness: A clear strength overall, supported by Booking.com's category scores and recent Expedia guest feedback.
Service: Recent guests often praise friendly staff, although sales approaches can detract from the welcome.
Amenities: Extensive pools, lazy river, golf, dining and fitness facilities; Splash Lagoon's main pool is currently partially closed.
Fees and surprises: Nightly resort fee; tube rentals, some activities and housekeeping cost extra; Main Clubhouse guests may encounter daytime construction.
