Axel's take: 7.3/10

A practical Lisbon base, but don't book it for the pool. a straightforward 4-star city hotel near Marquês de Pombal, scored for what it is.

Hotel 3K Madrid is a straightforward 4-star city hotel rather than a polished upscale stay. We'd consider it for sightseeing: Picoas metro is nearby, and the historic centre is roughly a 20–30-minute walk away. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful reception staff. It's a sensible base if those basics matter more than style.

The amenities need realistic expectations. Guests across several sites describe a tiny rooftop plunge pool with advance booking and limited sessions; Expedia lists it closed from October 15 through May 31. Room comfort is generally better received than the facilities, though some guests flag air-conditioning problems and traffic noise. We'd skip it for a pool-focused break or if you expect consistently upscale four-star facilities.

• Best for: sightseers comfortable walking or using the metro; couples prioritizing clean, practical accommodation

• Watch out for: Tiny pool with restricted, prebooked sessions; Swimming pool closed October 15–May 31; Some reports of traffic noise and uneven air conditioning

• Location: Near Picoas and Marquês de Pombal metros; allow roughly 20–30 minutes on foot to the historic centre.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable; small doubles are compact, and some guests report temperature-control problems.

• Cleanliness: A relative strength in Booking.com and Expedia ratings, reinforced by recent guest praise.

• Service: Helpful reception staff draw recurring praise, though experiences are not uniformly positive.

• Amenities: Seasonal rooftop plunge pool, breakfast, free Wi-Fi and a gym requiring advance booking.

• Fees and surprises: City tax and parking cost extra; Expedia also lists a breakage deposit.
