Axel's take: 7.4/10

Excalibur delivers a practical budget Strip stay, but expect basic rooms and uneven polish. a budget 3-star, castle-themed casino resort on the south Strip, scored for what it is.

Excalibur is a budget 3-star casino resort, and we'd pick it for affordable Strip access rather than the castle's promise of grandeur. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise spacious rooms, comfortable beds and convenient access to neighboring casinos. Recent Expedia reviews are particularly positive about cleanliness and helpful staff. The food court, entertainment and seasonal pools give it more to offer than a simple place to sleep.

The trade-off is uneven polish: dated furnishings, maintenance niggles and occasional housekeeping misses recur, while check-in can be frustrating. Refreshed Resort Tower rooms are worth considering, but don't expect an upscale transformation. Factor in the resort fee and paid parking. Air Canada Vacations lists the spa as closed; MGM says the pools close November 1, 2026, with access to Mandalay Bay's pool instead. We'd skip it for a pampered escape or a central-Strip base.

• Best for: budget-conscious Strip visitors; groups prioritizing entertainment over room style; travelers exploring the south Strip

• Watch out for: dated rooms and uneven upkeep; resort fee and paid parking; closed spa and seasonal pool shutdown

• Location: Convenient south-Strip position near New York-New York and Luxor; central-Strip sights involve longer walks.

• Rooms: Spacious and basic; refreshed Resort Tower options coexist with older-looking rooms.

• Cleanliness: Recent Expedia feedback is strongly positive, though Tripadvisor includes recurring housekeeping misses.

• Service: Helpful staff earn frequent praise; check-in queues and kiosk frustrations remain a trade-off.

• Amenities: Casino, food court, shows and seasonal pools; spa listed as closed, with pools closing November 1.

• Fees and surprises: Daily resort fee, paid parking and an incidental deposit; check what your reservation includes.
