Axel's take: 8.1/10

A strong airport stopover, provided you can live with aircraft noise. a no-frills 2-star airport hotel off the Las Vegas Strip, scored for what it is.

Best Western McCarran Inn is a no-frills 2-star airport hotel, and a strong pick for a practical overnight rather than a classic Vegas vacation. Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and welcoming staff; Expedia’s overall ratings reinforce that picture. Free hot breakfast, parking and an airport shuttle make it useful for travelers starting or finishing a trip.

The trade-off is the setting: aircraft noise is a recurring complaint, and the Strip is a drive away rather than outside the door. Some furnishings feel dated, and guests mention crowded parking. The outdoor pool is currently seasonally closed; booking sites disagree on reopening dates, so confirm before planning around it. Check shuttle arrangements too: management reports an afternoon service gap. We'd skip it for light sleepers or a pool-focused stay.

• Best for: airport stopovers; budget-conscious road trippers; travelers avoiding casino hotels

• Watch out for: aircraft noise; limited shuttle hours and afternoon gap; outdoor pool currently seasonally closed

• Location: Convenient for Harry Reid International Airport and UNLV; plan transportation for Strip visits.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable, with refrigerators and microwaves; some dated furnishings and aircraft noise.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Tripadvisor feedback and Booking.com and Expedia ratings.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are one of the most consistently praised features.

• Amenities: Free hot breakfast, Wi-Fi and airport shuttle; fitness center and a seasonally closed outdoor pool.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking is free but can fill up; confirm shuttle availability, including the reported 2–4 p.m. gap, and pool reopening.
