Axel's take: 7.9/10

Choose it for the beach and spacious rooms, not flawless all-inclusive dining. An upscale all-inclusive tower within the family-friendly Krystal Grand beachfront resort, scored for what it is.

Altitude is the upgraded tower within Krystal Grand Cancun, not a separate boutique hotel or an entirely adults-only resort. It’s a good pick for travelers who prioritize beachfront comfort: spacious rooms, ocean views and access to an adults-only infinity pool give it a clear appeal. Expedia and Booking.com guests rate cleanliness strongly, and recent reviews repeatedly praise the beach and helpful staff. Shops and nightlife are within walking distance.

The weaker link is the all-inclusive dining. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor reviews describe frustrating restaurant reservations and uneven food, despite plenty of satisfied diners. Air-conditioning problems also recur, though they don’t define the overall feedback. We’d choose it for beach days with upgraded facilities, but skip it if effortless dining and consistently polished luxury service are essential.

• Best for: Beach-focused couples; Families wanting upgraded rooms; Travelers who like walkable nightlife

• Watch out for: Restrictive restaurant reservation process; Uneven food quality; Recurring air-conditioning complaints

• Location: Directly on Punta Cancun’s beach, within walking distance of shops, restaurants and nightlife.

• Rooms: Spacious tower rooms with appealing views; some recent guests report inadequate air-conditioning.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Altitude’s Expedia and Booking.com feedback.

• Service: Staff receive frequent praise, but restaurant service and problem handling are less consistent.

• Amenities: Altitude lounge, adults-only infinity pool and beach-club access, plus shared family-resort facilities.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a city tax payable at the property; spa treatments and late checkout cost extra.
