Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong downtown pick with genuine Oregon character and especially welcoming staff. a Ducks-themed, full-service 4-star hotel in downtown Eugene, scored for what it is.

Graduate Eugene is a full-service 4-star downtown hotel that leans enthusiastically into Oregon Ducks history, sneakers and retro Northwest design. It’s a strong pick for university visits and downtown weekends: Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, comfortable rooms and walkable access to restaurants. The character is a real reason to choose it over a standard chain hotel, backed by generally strong cleanliness feedback rather than just clever decoration.

The main compromise is polish. Several recent Expedia guests mention tired decor or carpets, although most still rate their stays highly. Parking and breakfast cost extra, and this is a downtown base rather than an on-campus hotel. We’d choose it for friendly service and local personality; skip it if you want understated interiors, uniformly fresh finishes or bundled extras.

• Best for: University of Oregon visitors and Ducks fans; Downtown dining and theater weekends; Travelers who enjoy playful design

• Watch out for: Some room decor and carpets show wear; Parking and breakfast cost extra; Downtown, not on campus

• Location: Walkable downtown setting near restaurants and the Hult Center; university landmarks require a longer walk or short ride.

• Rooms: Distinctive retro Oregon styling and generally comfortable rooms, with some recent reports of worn finishes.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across major sites, despite occasional housekeeping misses.

• Service: A consistent strength, with repeated praise for welcoming front-desk, restaurant and valet staff.

• Amenities: Dining, gym and paid Topgolf simulators; Expedia and Booking.com list an indoor pool, but Hilton omits it, so confirm if essential.

• Fees and surprises: Paid self-parking or valet, breakfast charges and a per-pet stay fee; Hilton lists parking as uncovered and unsecured.
