Axel's take: 8.1/10

A strong beachfront pick for space and character, with some uneven room upkeep. an art-focused 4-star beachfront boutique hotel with spacious suites, scored for what it is.

The Sagamore is an art-focused 4-star beachfront boutique hotel, and we'd choose it for its roomy suites and exceptionally convenient South Beach location rather than flawless luxury. Lincoln Road is close, the beach is directly behind the hotel, and the artwork gives the public spaces genuine character. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise welcoming staff, clean accommodations and the pool-and-beach setup.

The trade-off is consistency: room-condition feedback is less uniformly enthusiastic, with some guests describing dated furnishings and maintenance shortcomings. Pool events can also make this a livelier stay than the gallery-like lobby suggests, particularly during Miami Music Week. A daily resort fee applies; valet parking and beach umbrellas cost extra. It's a strong fit for travelers prioritizing beach access and space, but we'd skip it for guaranteed quiet or polished luxury throughout.

• Best for: beachgoers who want a walkable location; travelers seeking spacious suites; art lovers

• Watch out for: uneven room condition and maintenance; pool-event noise, especially during Miami Music Week; resort fee and additional beach extras

• Location: Direct beachfront access on Collins Avenue, close to Lincoln Road and restaurants.

• Rooms: Spacious suite options are a strength; furnishings and maintenance draw mixed feedback.

• Cleanliness: Broadly positive across Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor.

• Service: Friendly staff earn repeated praise, although complaint handling is not uniformly strong.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, beach chairs, art displays, dining, a 24-hour gym and limited-duration bike rentals.

• Fees and surprises: Daily resort fee and incidental authorization hold; valet parking and beach umbrellas are extra.
