#9 of 9 hotels in La Carolina by Axel's take. La Carolina is #2 of 5 places to stay in Quito. The best hotels in La Carolina, ranked · Where to stay in Quito
Axel's take: 7.8/10
A practical budget base near Quicentro, with uneven room basics. a no-frills 2-star near Quicentro Shopping in northern Quito, scored for what it is.
Altura Rooms & Suites is a no-frills 2-star whose strongest asset is its northern Quito location, near Quicentro Shopping and Atahualpa Stadium. We'd consider it for a short, budget-conscious stay: Booking.com guests give cleanliness strong marks, while 2025–2026 feedback repeatedly praises the location, helpful staff and comfortable beds. Rooms, suites and apartments give families more choice than a standard budget hotel.
The trade-off is consistency. Several guests report weak in-room Wi-Fi, and reviews from late 2024 and early 2025 describe unreliable shower temperatures; newer feedback doesn't establish whether that was fixed. Tripadvisor's smaller, older review set is less enthusiastic about room condition. It's good for the price if convenience matters most; we'd skip it for dependable remote working or polished interiors.
-
Best for: budget-conscious short stays; Atahualpa Stadium visitors; families needing larger room options
-
Watch out for: weak Wi-Fi in some rooms; older reports of inconsistent hot water; uneven room condition
-
Location: Near Quicentro and Atahualpa Stadium, with access to Iñaquito metro; not an Old Town base.
-
Rooms: Private rooms, suites and apartments; comfort earns praise, but condition varies.
-
Cleanliness: Strong Booking.com cleanliness rating, with occasional housekeeping lapses.
-
Service: Mostly praised as friendly and helpful, including prompt fixes to reported problems.
-
Amenities: Listings include a shared kitchen, garden, free Wi-Fi and 24-hour reception.
-
Fees and surprises: Confirm payment timing, breakfast availability and parking arrangements directly; airport transfers cost extra.
