Axel's take: 8.5/10

Historic grandeur and a magnificent pool, with occasional gaps in luxury-level service. a historic luxury golf-and-spa resort in residential Coral Gables, scored for what it is.

The Biltmore is a historic luxury resort in residential Coral Gables, and a strong pick if you prefer Mediterranean architecture and pool days to beachfront bustle. Its enormous pool, golf course, spa and substantial gym make staying on property appealing. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms and gracious staff, while Booking.com guests rate comfort and cleanliness highly. We'd choose it for a relaxed, old-school Miami escape rather than a sleek contemporary stay.

The reservation is service consistency: alongside abundant praise, Tripadvisor guests describe slow restaurant service and uneven attention around the pool—meaningful shortcomings at this level. Budget for a daily resort fee and paid parking, too. We'd skip it if beach access, walk-out nightlife or reliably seamless luxury service are your priorities.

• Best for: couples seeking historic character; golf and pool-focused getaways; travelers visiting Coral Gables

• Watch out for: occasionally slow dining and pool service; daily resort fee and paid parking; not a beachfront location

• Location: Residential Coral Gables suits a quieter escape; beach outings and Miami nightlife require transportation.

• Rooms: Traditional décor and strong comfort ratings; suites receive particular praise for space.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength overall, supported by high Booking.com and Expedia cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Recent praise outweighs complaints, but restaurant and pool attention can fall short of luxury expectations.

• Amenities: Huge outdoor pool, 18-hole golf course, spa, tennis, substantial gym and several dining options.

• Fees and surprises: Daily resort fee plus charges for self-parking or valet; check inclusions before booking.
