Axel's take: 7.5/10

A practical airport stopover with useful freebies, but uneven room upkeep. a no-frills 3-star hotel near Orlando airport, scored for what it is.

Sonesta Essential Orlando Airport is a no-frills 3-star that makes most sense for a short, budget-conscious stopover. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and roomy accommodations. Free breakfast and parking add genuine value, while in-room microwaves and refrigerators make the basics easier. We'd consider it a good overnight option rather than a hotel to build an Orlando vacation around.

The refresh hasn't eliminated every rough edge: guests still report noisy air-conditioning, occasional odors and inconsistent bathroom upkeep, although clean-room feedback is more common overall. Don't assume the airport name means a shuttle; recent guests report none, and Sonesta doesn't advertise one. Plan your transfer separately. We'd skip it if you're a light sleeper or want a walkable vacation base.

• Best for: budget-conscious airport stopovers; drivers needing a short stay; travelers who value breakfast and parking

• Watch out for: noisy air-conditioning in some rooms; uneven room and bathroom upkeep; airport shuttle not advertised

• Location: Convenient for airport access, but a car or rideshare is useful for most outings.

• Rooms: Often described as spacious and comfortable; some older equipment remains noisy despite the refresh.

• Cleanliness: Mostly positive recent feedback, with occasional odor and bathroom-cleaning complaints.

• Service: Helpful front-desk staff are a recurring strength, though experiences aren't uniformly positive.

• Amenities: Free breakfast, Wi-Fi and stay-time parking; outdoor pool, gym and guest laundry.

• Fees and surprises: An incidental card authorization is required; pet and early/late checkout fees apply. Confirm pet arrangements because listings conflict.
