Axel's take: 7.3/10

Go for the beach, dining and shows, not consistently polished rooms. a lively beachfront all-inclusive in the sprawling Grand Oasis complex, scored for what it is.

The Pyramid is a lively beachfront all-inclusive offering broader dining access than the neighboring Grand Oasis within the same complex. We'd consider it for a sociable beach holiday rather than dependable luxury. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the pools, evening shows and specialty restaurants; the dining variety is a stronger selling point than the bedrooms.

The trade-off is inconsistency. Recent reviews mix enthusiastic reports of friendly staff and clean rooms with recurring complaints about dated furnishings, bathroom maintenance and unreliable air-conditioning. Service can also vary. The hotel confirms that restaurant access depends on your booked category, and specialty dinners require reservations, so check your exact inclusions rather than assuming everything is covered. We'd skip it for a quiet, fuss-free honeymoon or if modern rooms matter more than entertainment.

• Best for: couples and friends seeking lively entertainment; beachgoers who enjoy varied dining

• Watch out for: dated rooms and uneven maintenance; category-dependent restaurant access; extra charges for some shaded beach beds

• Location: Directly on the Hotel Zone beach, within the large shared Grand Oasis complex.

• Rooms: Room condition varies; dated bathrooms and air-conditioning problems recur in recent reviews.

• Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms, but housekeeping and upkeep are not uniformly dependable.

• Service: Individual restaurant staff earn strong praise; service consistency and problem handling are less reliable.

• Amenities: Pools, specialty dining, evening shows, a gym and spa provide plenty to do.

• Fees and surprises: Confirm category privileges and dining reservations; some shaded beach beds cost extra.
