Axel's take: 8.6/10
A clean, friendly sightseeing base, with nightlife noise and compact rooms to consider. a simple 3-star guesthouse with private rooms in central Madrid, scored for what it is.
Hostal Lisboa is a simple 3-star guesthouse, not a dorm-style hostel, in Madrid’s walkable Las Letras neighborhood. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want private accommodation near the museums, Sol and plenty of restaurants rather than full-service hotel extras. Expedia guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness and helpful staff, while Booking.com’s strong overall rating supports the broadly positive picture.
The main compromises are space and quiet. The hotel lists doubles at just 12 square meters, and some recent guests describe inward-facing rooms with little daylight. Late-night bar noise recurs across review sources, though not every room seems equally affected. Reception closes at 10:30 p.m.; arrange any late arrival directly. We’d skip it for guaranteed quiet or generous space, and confirm lift access if stairs are a problem.
