Axel's take: 8.1/10

Comfortable campus lodging with helpful staff, but sightseeing takes planning. a practical 3-star conference hotel on Gallaudet University's campus, scored for what it is.

Kellogg is a practical 3-star conference hotel on Gallaudet University's campus, and a strong pick for university visits or a less hectic DC base. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and welcoming staff. Union Market puts plenty of eating options nearby, while the complimentary Union Station shuttle helps offset the distance from the main sights. We'd choose it for comfort and campus convenience rather than boutique polish.

The trade-offs are paid parking, a roughly 15-minute walk to Metro and some reports of aging fixtures or minor maintenance faults. Gallaudet also confirms Louise B. Miller Pathways and Gardens construction near the hotel, expected to finish in spring 2027; ask about work near your room. We'd skip it if walking straight to the National Mall or avoiding nearby construction is essential.

• Best for: Gallaudet visitors and families; conference attendees; travelers who enjoy Union Market

• Watch out for: Nearby garden construction through spring 2027; Paid garage parking; Metro requires a walk

• Location: Campus setting near Union Market; not a walk-out-the-door National Mall base.

• Rooms: Generally spacious and comfortable, with some reports of dated fixtures and minor maintenance issues.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent guest feedback across major sites.

• Service: Recent guests repeatedly praise welcoming staff and helpful problem handling.

• Amenities: Fitness studio, free Wi-Fi, breakfast bistro and complimentary Union Station shuttle; confirm shuttle times.

• Fees and surprises: Garage parking costs extra; check breakfast inclusion and nearby garden construction before booking.
