Palm Beach offers the most distinctive setting: Mediterranean-style buildings, Worth Avenue's courtyards, oceanfront walks and the lagoon-side Lake Trail. Around Worth Avenue and County Road, shopping and meals fit naturally into a walking day; the Flagler Museum adds a substantial historic stop. Stay here for the island itself, rather than simply proximity to West Palm Beach.

The trade-off is less convenient regional travel and a more reservation-led social scene. Downtown outings mean crossing a bridge, and not every island address has equally convenient beach access. Skip it if your ideal evening is moving casually between late-night bars, or if practical transport matters more than setting.
