Axel's take: 7.7/10

A friendly neighborhood base, better for exploring than a full-service beach vacation. a simple, two-story boutique hotel near Bal Harbour, scored for what it is.

The Landon is a simple, 46-room boutique hotel in quiet Bay Harbor Islands, not a beachfront resort. We'd choose it for a low-key stay near restaurants and Bal Harbour Shops, with the beach roughly 10–15 minutes away on foot. Recent Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds. The Palm restaurant and evening wine hour give this small property some personality.

The compromises are practical: breakfast is basic, there's no pool or gym, and the two-story building has no elevator. Despite the hotel's renovation claims, guests still mention dated details and sound carrying between rooms. Parking availability draws conflicting reports, so confirm arrangements before bringing a car. Also check whether the daily urban fee is included. We'd skip it for resort amenities, reliable soundproofing or straightforward step-free access.

  • Best for: couples seeking a low-key base; Bal Harbour shopping visits; travelers spending most days out

  • Watch out for: no elevator, pool or gym; basic breakfast and room-to-room noise; urban fee and uncertain parking availability

  • Location: Quiet island neighborhood near dining and shopping; the beach is a walk away, not outside the door.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds and mini-fridges; some guests report dated details and weak sound insulation.

  • Cleanliness: Recent reviews generally praise clean rooms, with occasional complaints about musty carpets.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff are a consistent strength across booking sites.

  • Amenities: Continental breakfast, beach towels, lobby refreshments, evening wine and The Palm; no pool or gym.

  • Fees and surprises: Management confirms a daily urban fee; check inclusion, parking arrangements and the incidental deposit.
