Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong convention base with welcoming staff, but fees and maintenance need watching. an independent 4-star in the Warehouse District, formerly Omni Riverfront, scored for what it is.

This independent 4-star, formerly Omni Riverfront, is a strong pick for conventions and pre-cruise stays rather than a luxury escape. Its Warehouse District location puts the convention center and Julia Street terminal close by, with the French Quarter walkable. Recent Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise friendly staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds. The brick-and-arched-window character gives it more personality than a standard business hotel.

The trade-offs are practical: maintenance niggles recur, including plumbing and electrical issues, and some guests report noise. Expedia also currently flags construction at a neighboring building; confirm the likely disruption before booking. A daily destination fee and paid valet parking weaken the value, even with welcome drinks and evening beignets included. We'd choose it for convenience and hospitality, but skip it if you want faultless four-star polish or guaranteed quiet.

• Best for: convention attendees; pre-cruise stays; walkable sightseeing

• Watch out for: daily destination fee and paid valet; neighboring construction flagged by Expedia; maintenance niggles and some noise reports

• Location: Warehouse District base near the convention center and Julia Street cruise terminal; French Quarter walkable.

• Rooms: Comfortable, reasonably spacious rooms, but recurring small maintenance faults detract from four-star polish.

• Cleanliness: Generally praised in recent reviews, with strong cleanliness ratings across booking sites.

• Service: Friendly staff are a consistent strength, though problem handling receives some mixed feedback.

• Amenities: Fulton St. Bistro & Bar, room service and a fitness center; destination-fee inclusions include evening beignets.

• Fees and surprises: Daily destination fee, paid valet, pet fee and incidental card hold; Expedia warns of neighboring construction.
