Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong Disney base for relaxed resort days, with long walks and ongoing construction. A sprawling, Southern-themed Disney Moderate resort, scored for what it is.

Riverside is a sprawling Disney Moderate resort, not a luxury four-star hotel. Its riverside grounds, pools and boat to Disney Springs make it a strong pick for families who want downtime between park days. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests broadly praise the setting and friendly staff, while recent Expedia reviews repeatedly describe clean, comfortable rooms. We'd favor the newly refurbished Magnolia Bend section.

The biggest everyday compromise is distance: guests on both sites mention long walks from outlying rooms to dining and the lobby. Park transportation is by bus; the boats don't serve the parks. Construction also matters now: Alligator Bayou room renovations run through August 2027, with additional lobby and riverbank work reported in October 2026. We'd skip it if you need compact grounds, quick park access or a construction-free stay.

• Best for: Families balancing parks and pool days; Couples wanting a quieter Disney setting; Disney Springs dining visits

• Watch out for: Room renovations through August 2027, plus lobby and riverbank work; Long walks from outlying buildings; Bus-only Disney transportation to the parks

• Location: Inside Walt Disney World, with boats to Disney Springs rather than the theme parks.

• Rooms: Magnolia Bend refurbishment is complete; Alligator Bayou is being updated and has no elevators.

• Cleanliness: Generally a strength in recent Expedia reviews; occasional missed housekeeping is reported.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn consistent praise, particularly for check-in assistance.

• Amenities: Outdoor pools, Ol' Man Island waterslide, food court, restaurant and riverside recreation.

• Fees and surprises: Overnight self-parking is free; dogs incur fees, and breakfast costs extra.
