Axel's take: 6.9/10

A practical downtown base, but the renovation hasn't resolved every room issue. a full-service, mid-range downtown business and convention hotel, scored for what it is.

Hilton Albany is a full-service, mid-range convention hotel whose strongest selling point is its downtown location: MVP Arena, the Capitol and business appointments are within easy walking distance. We'd consider it for a short event or work trip. Recent guests regularly praise helpful staff and comfortable beds, while the indoor pool and on-site dining add convenience. Hilton calls it recently renovated; Expedia dates the overhaul to January 2026.

That refresh hasn't produced consistently polished rooms. Across Expedia and Tripadvisor, 2026 guests still describe cramped or tired bathrooms, shower and drainage problems, and uneven attention to cleaning and maintenance. Plenty also report clean, comfortable stays, so this is inconsistency rather than universal neglect. Parking and standard breakfast cost extra. We'd skip it if spotless bathrooms and reliably trouble-free rooms matter more than walking to your event.

• Best for: MVP Arena concertgoers; Downtown business travelers; Convention attendees

• Watch out for: Small, unevenly maintained bathrooms; Inconsistent housekeeping detail; Paid parking and breakfast

• Location: An easy walk to MVP Arena, the Capitol and downtown meeting venues.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds earn praise, but recent bathroom and plumbing complaints persist after renovation.

• Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms; recurring complaints concern bathroom grime and missed details.

• Service: Helpful staff are a recurring strength, though some guests report slow check-in or uneven responses.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, fitness center, restaurants, free Wi-Fi and an airport shuttle are listed by Hilton.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking and standard breakfast are extra; check whether your booking includes breakfast.
