Central Santurce is the choice for art and nights out rather than resort polish. Around La Placita and Avenida Ponce de León, you get market-square bars, Puerto Rican cooking, the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo. It makes sense when dinner, exhibitions and music are the point of the trip.

It's not a beach neighborhood, and an address advertised simply as Santurce tells you too little. Pick a specific block near the places you'll use, expect noise by La Placita, and plan late rides instead of long walks between nightlife pockets. Skip it for an easy family beach break or an early-to-bed routine.
