As of August 11, Axel on Google Flights is available on the Chrome Web Store. While you browse Google Flights, the extension checks whether Axel has the same flight, the same airline and the same times, for less. When it does, the lower price appears beneath that flight. Clicking it opens the same trip on Axel.
Why we built it
On August 7, four days before launch, a traveler sent Axel this, word for word: "I mean why would i book with Axel when I'm getting cheaper flights from google flights?" Questions like it are common. Travelers compare Axel against Google Flights and paste prices from one into the other. Rather than answer in chat, we moved the comparison into Google Flights itself, where it shows up only when Axel's price is actually lower.
How it works
The extension reads the flights on a Google Flights results page and asks Axel for its price on each exact flight. If Axel's price is not lower, nothing appears. If it is, the price and the difference show beneath the flight, and clicking opens the same trip on Axel for booking. The extension shows no ads, applies no markups, and does not track browsing outside Google Flights. It currently works in Chrome, on Google Flights in English with USD prices.
Install it from the Chrome Web Store, then browse Google Flights as usual.
Questions people ask
Does the extension do anything on other websites?
No. It runs only on Google Flights pages. It does not read or track browsing anywhere else.
Is the displayed price marked up or discounted to look better?
No. The extension shows Axel's actual booking price. The savings figure is the difference between that price and Google's displayed price for the same flight.
