As of August 6, the seat map lives inside Axel's flight checkout, for most airlines we book. Pick your flight, pick your fare, then tap into the cabin and choose your seats. Every open seat shows its price, every traveler gets their own pick on every flight, and it all goes on the same booking with one payment.
Why we built it
Seats was the other thing travelers kept asking Axel for, right behind bags. We ship in the order you ask, so bags went first, on July 20. Eight days later a traveler sent Axel this, word for word: "Omg yes! No bag check fees! 🙌 What is the cost of a window seat on those same flights?" That message is the roadmap. Seats came next.
How it works
The map is the whole cabin, not a preference form. Free seats and paid seats sit side by side, each open seat priced, and you tap the exact seat you want for each traveler on each flight. If your fare already includes seat selection, checkout says so and you pick any open seat at no charge. You should never pay for something your ticket already gives you. That was the rule for bags, and it's the rule for seats.
And the same honesty rule applies: if an airline doesn't support seat selection through Axel yet, the map won't appear. We only show you what we can actually book.

Which airlines does this work with?
Most airlines Axel books. When an airline supports it, the seat map appears automatically in your checkout. If you don't see it, that airline isn't supported yet.
When are my seats confirmed?
Axel adds your seats to your airline booking once your ticket is issued, and you get a separate confirmation when they're added. If a seat is no longer available by then, we refund it automatically.
