#7 of 9 hotels in Old Town & Niederdorf by Axel's take. Old Town & Niederdorf is #1 of 9 places to stay in Zurich. The best hotels in Old Town & Niederdorf, ranked · Where to stay in Zurich

Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong Old Town base, but choose your room carefully. a compact, modern 3-star superior hotel in Zurich’s Old Town, scored for what it is.

Hotel Felix is a compact, modern 3-star superior in Zurich’s Niederdorf quarter, within walking distance of the main station. It’s a strong pick for a short city break: Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the cleanliness, helpful staff and breakfast. You’re choosing practical comfort and an excellent sightseeing base rather than space or extensive facilities.

The room category matters. The hotel lists air conditioning in Double Room Plus and Felix Loft, but not its standard singles, doubles or triples; summer guests repeatedly report uncomfortable heat. Rooms can feel tight with luggage, and some showers offer limited privacy. September 2026 guests also reported major roadworks directly outside the entrance, with early weekday noise; confirm whether these have finished. We’d skip it if generous space or reliably quiet mornings are priorities.

Best for: short city breaks; travelers arriving by train; Old Town sightseeing
Watch out for: no air conditioning in most room categories; compact rooms and some open showers; recent roadworks outside the entrance
Location: Walkable Niederdorf location near restaurants, sights, trams and the main station.
Rooms: Modern but compact; Double Room Plus and Felix Loft explicitly include air conditioning.
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com and Expedia guest feedback.
Service: Guests generally describe friendly, helpful staff.
Amenities: Well-liked breakfast buffet, free Wi-Fi, lift, minibars and in-room kettles.
Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; limited paid parking needs advance booking; check roadworks status.
