Questions families ask
Will four of us get queen beds or double beds?
It depends on the exact category. El Paraiso lists two queens, while Niik and Dreams list two doubles. Some room titles conflict with their detailed descriptions, notably at The Strabon and Punta Piedra. Confirm bed dimensions and occupancy for two adults and two children rather than relying on the word “quadruple.”
Can we have separate bedrooms without booking two rooms?
Yes. Biwa's Junior Suite has a queen and two twins across two bedrooms within one suite. Xambé's apartment has two bedrooms with king beds and two bathrooms. Ana y Jose also offers a two-bedroom suite, while Amaka Calma's penthouse has three bedrooms. These are single accommodation units, not connecting hotel rooms.
Can we add a crib or rollaway?
Don't count on a rollaway: several hotels explicitly do not offer them, and others leave availability unclear. Free cribs are listed on request at Niik and Cielo Maya; El Paraiso lists them for ages zero to two, subject to limits. Always confirm whether a crib is allowed alongside your four-person booking.
How much more does a room for four cost?
The increase varies substantially. The Strabon's four-person room has a relatively modest uplift over its cheapest room for two, while Xambé's two-bedroom apartment represents a much larger step up. Compare the exact family category, not the hotel's starting rate, and check breakfast, park charges, resort fees and transport when judging overall value.
Which part of Tulum works best with children?
Tulum Town suits walkable meals and practical stays, but beach days require transport. Aldea Zamá and La Veleta offer larger inland rooms and apartments, with transport planning still important. Playa Paraíso suits beach days and visits to the ruins, subject to park procedures. Tankah Bay is quieter but less convenient for frequent town outings.
