#5 of 6 hotels in Old Town & New Town by Axel's take. Old Town & New Town is #4 of 8 places to stay in Warsaw. The best hotels in Old Town & New Town, ranked · Where to stay in Warsaw

Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong budget base for Old Town sightseeing, but choose your room carefully. A budget hostel with private rooms and apartments spread around Warsaw’s Old Town, scored for what it is.

Kanonia is a budget hostel and scattered-apartment operation, not a conventional hotel. It’s a strong pick if you want Warsaw’s Old Town on your doorstep without paying for hotel extras. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the location, cleanliness and helpful staff, while recent Hostelworld reviews reinforce its appeal for short sightseeing stays. For its class, it delivers good value rather than polished comfort.

The catch is that the exact unit matters: some rooms share bathrooms, apartments occupy separate buildings, and cooking facilities differ. Recent feedback includes both well-equipped apartments and units with only basic food-preparation equipment. Expedia lists no elevator and email-based check-in, so confirm your address, stairs and entry instructions before arrival. We’d skip it if you need step-free access, dependable round-the-clock reception or a standardized room.

  • Best for: Budget-minded Old Town sightseers; Friends sharing a private apartment; Independent travelers comfortable with self-check-in

  • Watch out for: Separate buildings and varying room layouts; Shared bathrooms in some room categories; Stairs and advance entry instructions

  • Location: Excellent for exploring the Old Town on foot; individual apartments have different addresses.

  • Rooms: Simple, individually furnished units; verify bathroom arrangements, bed layout and kitchen equipment.

  • Cleanliness: Generally praised across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Hostelworld feedback.

  • Service: Helpful staff earn regular praise, but confirm entry instructions rather than assuming 24-hour reception.

  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi; cooking facilities vary, with no elevator or on-site parking listed by Expedia.

  • Fees and surprises: Check apartment cleaning fees and pet charges; the supplied Safestay website belongs to a different hostel.
