#3 of 9 hotels in Mariahilf & Mariahilfer Strasse by Axel's take. Mariahilf & Mariahilfer Strasse is #4 of 10 places to stay in Vienna. The best hotels in Mariahilf & Mariahilfer Strasse, ranked · Where to stay in Vienna

Axel's take: 8.7/10

A stylish shopping base with comfortable beds, friendly staff and deliberately fewer extras. a design-led 4-star with streamlined service near Westbahnhof, scored for what it is.

Ruby Marie is a design-led 4-star in a former department store on Mariahilfer Straße, handy for shopping and Westbahnhof connections rather than doorstep access to the old town. It's a strong pick for an independent city break: Tripadvisor, Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise comfortable beds, clean rooms and friendly staff. The leafy rooftop garden and round-the-clock bar give it more personality than a straightforward business hotel.

The trade-off is a deliberately stripped-back stay. Check-in is self-service, there’s no room service or minibar, and smaller rooms offer limited space for belongings. Glass showers opening onto the bedroom also make sharing less private. We'd skip it if you want traditional full-service comforts or a fully separate bathroom; couples and solo travelers comfortable with those compromises should find plenty to like.

  • Best for: couples on a city break; solo travelers who like design; shoppers using public transport

  • Watch out for: open-plan glass showers; compact entry-level rooms; no room service or minibar

  • Location: On Mariahilfer Straße near Westbahnhof; convenient transport, but outside the old-town core.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds earn consistent praise; room size varies and shower privacy is limited.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, with occasional housekeeping misses rather than a dominant problem.

  • Service: Guests repeatedly praise friendly hosts; expect self-service check-in rather than traditional reception.

  • Amenities: Rooftop garden, 24-hour bar, breakfast and free Wi-Fi; no pool or full restaurant.

  • Fees and surprises: Cashless; breakfast may cost extra, parking is paid nearby, and dogs are restricted to Wow Rooms with a cleaning fee.
