A characterful Vienna base that gets cleanliness, service and breakfast right. a design-minded 3-star social-enterprise hotel in Vienna’s Landstraße district, scored for what it is.

magdas is a design-minded 3-star in Landstraße, pairing upcycled furniture with a social mission: training people with refugee backgrounds for hospitality work. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want character without sacrificing the basics. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise cleanliness and helpful staff, while recent Tripadvisor reviews reinforce the enthusiasm for breakfast. Nearby trams and a walkable connection to Wien Mitte make it a practical sightseeing base, though it isn’t in the old town itself.

The compromises are mostly in the room setup. Guests on Tripadvisor and Expedia describe open shower areas screened by curtains, which won’t suit every room-sharing arrangement, and several miss having a fridge. Breakfast isn’t automatically included, and garage parking across the street costs extra. We’d choose it for a relaxed city break, but skip it if bathroom privacy or extensive in-room amenities are priorities.

• Best for: couples and solo city-break travelers; travelers who enjoy upcycled design; guests who value a social-enterprise mission

• Watch out for: curtain-screened shower areas in some rooms; no fridge in standard rooms; breakfast and garage parking can cost extra

• Location: Landstraße base near tram stops, roughly ten minutes on foot from Wien Mitte; outside the old-town core.

• Rooms: Distinctive upcycled furnishings and generally comfortable rooms; check the shower layout before sharing.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff receive repeated praise across the major review sites.

• Amenities: Restaurant, bar, garden, free Wi-Fi and tea-making facilities; accessible room categories are available.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; parking is paid in a garage across the street, and airport transfers carry a surcharge.
